A Family Tradition of Hospitality
Sunset Cove Resort has been family-owned and operated by the Ruzeks since 1999 — but their story on Cass Lake began long before that. For over 40 years, the Ruzek family has spent their summers here in the Northwoods, vacationing at Sah-Kah-Tay Resort long before Bryan was even born. Those early memories of fishing, campfires, and carefree days at the lake inspired Al and Cheryl to build a place of their own — one that would capture that same spirit of connection and relaxation for generations to come.
What started as their dream of lakeside hospitality has grown into a true family endeavor. Today, their three sons — Bryan, Nick, and Ben — along with their wives and children, live and work on-site to carry on the tradition. Since purchasing the property in 1999, the Ruzeks have continually updated and renovated the resort, blending modern comfort with the rustic charm that makes Cass Lake so special.
Nestled on 115 acres of private land with over 2,600 feet of lakeshore, the resort offers plenty of space to unwind, explore, and enjoy the water. That personal presence means there’s always a friendly face nearby — whether you need a hand, a tip on the best fishing spots, or simply a neighborly hello.
